The late night borak sessions during the weekends was always a welcome respite after a week full of miles of walking to & fro from New Hostel to our classes. An added bonus to the session would be when the F3 NH (not for Dorm 8 & Dorm 10 though, as they had Toya and Ainan as their F3 NH :-)) will join in and weaved stories, trying their very best to impress. Among the lot, Kude 0f Dorm 4 and Poen of Dorm 5 were known to specialise in the retellings of 'cerita poron'[note 1].
Below is one of the stories that still come to mind every now & then :
Misteri Palang Basikal
Ada satu malam ni, ada sorang awek ni tengah tunggu nak balik rumah daripada kerja. Waktu dah malam & public transport semua dah abis. Awek ni pun dok la melangut sorang2 dok pikir macam mana nak balik.
Tiba-tiba, lalu seorang pakcik dengan basikal tua beliau. Dia pun berhenti & tanya awek ni mana nak pegi. Awek tu pun bagitau dia nak balik rumah tapi bas, teksi semua dah abis. Pakcik tu pun offer untuk hantar. Masalahnya cuma basikal pakcik tu tak berpelantar. Yang ada cuma palang. Pakcik tu kata, kalau nak duduk atas palang boleh la. Memikirkan dia dah tak de pilihan, dia pun setuju. Pendekkan cerita, selamat la awek tu balik rumah malam tu.
Esoknya, masa awek tu tengah tunggu nak pegi kerja, pakcik tu lalu depan dia sambil tersengih2 atas basikal dia. Perati punya perati, awek tu baru perasan, basikal tua tu TAKDE PALANG sebenarnya. Abis tu, semalam dia duduk atas apa???
