CHIBIOK LARI DARIPADA KR

Satu malam tu, masa KR mengamuk a.k.a naik minyak, semua org lari bertempiaran jauh dari Dorm C. Aku pulak boleh salah bearing, lari ke arah Dorm C. Apa lagi, face to face la. Nasib baik aku pendek, so radar KR radar tak boleh detect aku. Aku sempat buat u-turn ala2 mat rempit terus ke bawah dalam sekelip mata. Aku tak kelip langsung mata waktu tu.


Nasib baik ada Comang. Dia la yg distract KR. Aku terselamat dari dibaham. Aku masih trauma...

KENAPA AKU KURUS MASA KAT KOLEQ

Pengakuan seorang Yengkoz (nama dirahsiakan, tapi dia seorang tauke nasi East Wing).

Dulu memang aku tertekan masa Form 1. Duduk kat Dorm B, kat tepi stor... Al-Qur'an kat tepi bantal. Selalu terbangun masa tengah malam.

Nak tido balik, susah. Patut la aku kurus...

PENGALAMAN MIOR HISAP ROKOK

Date: 31 August 1994

Time: After midnight

Location: CheNahCheNi

Yang cuba nak ajak aku hisap rokok - Poq Peq.

Poqpeq says mafhumnya, "Ala Mior, ko bila lagi nak try. Sports Day dah abis. Tak payah risau pasal stamina dah. Nah ambik setabang."

Sambung Poq Peq lagi, "Tapi aku kena kasi tau kod etika smoking. Ko tak boleh nak pau orang manjang, kena beli sendiri".

So malam tu first time ever aku hisap rokok, on & off ocassionally bila ada gathering, main snooker. Tapi aku tak tersangkut bab-bab smoking ni.

Last time in 2004 masa main bowling dgn budak Petronas. Kat Oz, takde kaki.

Nasib baik aku tak hook dgn smoking, kalo tak memang aku blame Poqpeq hidup2, hundred percent!!!

Sape Nak Oreo?

Pokpek (nama sebenar dirahsiakan- editor) ada kenangan pahit bersama oreo time dorm d prep skool dulu.. ada sekali tu lepas lights off, kitorang dengar bunyi plastik dalam kelambu dia, membayangkan ada peluang untuk mengepau pokpek lantas terus terdengar signal dehem-dehem istibrok..

Pokpek mengambil reaksi positif dengan meng'offer' oreo, "Sape nak oreo?". belum habis lafaz 'o-ri-yo', serbuan tangan-tangan asing dari katil seberang melenyapkan oreo yang ada hingga ke cebisan yang terakhir. Pokpek tergumam dan kaget..

Nyata kelaparan mengatasi kekangan rasa malu.. selepas itu, tiada lagi pelawaan ikhlas dari Pokpek..

AJAK HALAU HANTU

"...YAASINN...YAASINN...YAASINN..."

Ajak, screaming at the top of his lungs to chase off Kak Ramlah during one of her attacks. Needless to say, Kak Ramlah was not at all impressed and least of all deterred by the recital as evident from her regular visits to Prep School & NH in many more moons to come.

KR : How I Met HER

This is a recollection of KR's former friend. What follows are his own words. He agreed to declassify his memories only recently.

Brace yourself.

"The first moment before I met "HER" I had fever. Aku dan R_______n masa tu.

Aku ingat R_____n sebab dia yang tengok aku berganjak ke beranda, tetiba aku dah berada di depan bilik mandi tu. Aku tak ingat the lapse, tapi aku ingat "SHE" told me that she would move me to anywhere if I was willing to "help" HER.

I was on my bed, next thing I realised I was in front of the shower room. Before that happened, she came to me, and said, aku masih ingat, "Jom!.." aku hanya angguk.

Yup, I had fever. And it started from there.

The night before that I met her, and said I was willing to "help" her."

Spirit of Coin - Part II

Selepas ramai dah pandai main spirit of coin, permainan ni dah jadi macam board game (macam saidina, sahiba) kat kelas V Sc V. Ada sekali tu masa prep petang, V Sc V ada 4 board spirit of coin dimainkan secara langsung.

Selalunya kitaorg dapat spirit yg tak reti nak eja. Pening nak paham. Maybe yang masuk coin tu hantu jepun. Main spirit of coin ni ambik masa dlm 3-4 hari gak nak jumpa spirit yang friendly. Aku tak ingat apa budak2 ni bagi nama kat satu spirit ni. Once dia masuk je. Semua seronok gile. Macam2 la budak2 ni tanya soalan mengarut tapi yang ngerinye most jawapan betul (kecuali soalan toje pasal result exam kimia dia). Dalam ngeri2 tu seronok gak. Itu yang jadi gian tu. Spirit yang friendly ni la jadi org tengah kitaorg bila kitaorg nak panggil dead celebrities suruh masuk coin, ada la dpt panggil kurt cobain, albert einstein etc,

Scene 1 - Prep Malam
Dalam banyak2 spirit yg aku saksikan, spirit Einstein yg paling aku kagum. Setelah dapat dijemput oleh Spirit Org Tengah ni, coin terus gerak punya la laju tak ingat, aktif pusing keliling board. Banyak kali jari terlepas pegang coin tu (bahaya kalau terlepas pegang, pasal ada orang cakap coin tu akan boleh terpelantik dan spirit tu akan muncul). Mula2 suruh Einstein eja nama dia, laju gila dia eja. Takde nye pergerakan mencari huruf, coin dia bergerak straight ke huruf ke huruf. Kamjat gak la.

Then, kami suruh dia eja formula dia yg famous tu, laju je coin gerak ke petak huruf "E" then coin pusing laju gila keliling board macam cari something. Semua jari budak2 yg pegang tu dah berpeluh kerana tak dapat mengawal pergerakan. Nasib baik sapa ntah boleh tanya spirit tu, Are you looking for the equal sign?? Coin tu straight ke "Yes". Then, coin tu laju straight ke "M", "C", then sekali lagi, coin pusing keliling board laju tak ingat punya. Masa tu sapa ntah jerit ? Goto the number, goto the number ?. Zzuupp coin ke petak "2". Rupa-rupanya dia cari "kuasa dua".

Believe it or not.

Scene 2 - Big School
Masa ni, main Spirit of Coin dah jadi melampau. Ramai sangat yg main. Masa tu jualan manila kad laku kat koop. Even budak F3 pun join F5 main spirit gak. Ada satu malam, satu spirit dah kasi last warning yang kita ni dah melampau sangat. Yang aku ingat kita ada terima threats yang hantu2 ni akan balas dendam dan merasuk budak dan ada yang akan dibunuh.

Bila dah kena warning macam tu, semua orang jadi takut. Malam tu gak (masa tak ingat, yang pasti selepas lights off) aku ada dengar bunyi mengilai masa aku jalan kat tangga Dorm 21. Then aku lari pergi common room overfloor, ramai orang berkumpul kat situ, baru lepas main spirit dan kena warning. Masa lepak kat corridor overfloor, tiba2 kami nampak ada satu kereta mercedez putih masuk koleq dari entrance kat pavi then pusing big school 2 kali. Kami nampak ada dua orang dalam kereta tu, sorang tu pakai lebai haji. Masa tu seram gila.

Aku pun lari la ke dorm 19 aku. Sampai je dorm, aku terus kejut F3 aku pasal nak suruh kejutkan aku pukul 6.45am pagi nanti. Tak pasal2 budak F3 ni melompat terkejut. ?Eh Bang! Bukan tadi abang dah tido dalam kelambu katil abang ke?? Aaarrgghh sudah? aku check katil aku, cadar masih lagi stretch.. sapa pulak tadi dalam kelambu aku?

Spirit of Coin

Masa musim kejahilan main spirit of coin, butcher ajak main. Dia pun cepat2 lukih board utk spirit tu. Pastu start la panggil roh (haha) Tak lama pastu bila coin ni dah start gerak2, ianya melilau tak tentu pasal. Ejaannya jadi mcm mengarut. Semua dah risau.

Tak lama pastu baru perasan, board tu takde huruf "N".

Pastu nak repair la board tu, kononnya kena la hantar spirit tu balik ke "HOME". Kalu tak nanti spirit tu kluar dari coin (haha) Tapi coin ni melilau jugak. Ah..hantu ni tanak balik ke. Tengok2, "HOME" pun tak dak. Sure bengang spirit mana yg masuk coin tu.

Di masa yg lain toje main spirit coin, sambil tu dia tanya result kimia dia. Esoknya dgn gembira dia tanya cikgu kimia,

"Cikgu, spirit of coin cakap saya dapat A1 kimia. Betul ke?"

"Mmmm...aa, maaf, awak fail"

Encounter With The 5th Kind: KR

Necessary Background Reading

• KR - short form for "She Who Must Not Be Named", a spooky character feared even worse than Voldemort who (or which?) wrecked havoc in koleq in 1990-1991. Conventional wisdom at the time believed (and concluded) that she (or it?) was a wild spirit.
• NA - short form for the equivalent of Wormtail (servant to a villainous Dark Lord), a batch member of Class of 94 who fell victim to KR's wandering spirit and befriended her (or it?) during the period of 1990-1991
• Wonggek - a Mad-Eye Moody-like character, a member of Class of 94, who was and is really mad. Among his many accolades were the break in of AVA room, the phone tapping scandal that cost thousands to koleq, underground "bisness order" that went as far as Prep School and New Hostel from its Pavi base
• Ja - (hmmm tak dak laa pulak character from Harry Potter yang aku boleh assign to Ja!) Budak Teghanung spek mate besor (imagine Nobita, suara kasar, gelak sampai lelah, itulah Jasmang Hassang)
• Prefect A - Chief Spiritual Leader among the prefects at Prep School 1990, who in a way fancied himself as Dumbledore, but when it comes to KR, was more like Ron ha ha
• Prefect B,C,D ,E- all other prefects at Prep School

Date/Time: Satu malam dalam tahun 1990, dalam pukul 2 am

PENAKUT WARNING: Ni bukan cerita kelakar or bell, ni cerita hantu.

Prep School in 1990 was in a way made memorable not because of many sweet memories, but the one experience that not many batches had had the "privilege" to go through. In our midst was a case of Prep School vs. KR - though the extent of the truth, or the manner of possession could never be ascertained.

I had never witnessed any physical or material evidence that could substantiate the truth in the claim that NA was possessed and a wandering spirit, referred to as KR, was roaming free - except this one experience that I was forced into (of which I am going to tell next). But it was a sensational story in koleq and we were still asked about the story even after we had reached Form 4.

NA sat in front of me in 1 PK 1 and I was his class monitor. His deskmate was R. Awie was deskmate and behind me were the two fatsos - Epit and Taufik.

I cannot recall much the beginning of the year until the news/story was belatedly told to me, despite the fact that I was seating right behind NA and was his class monitor. Like many F1s, I was too engulfed with my own home sickness (and the overthrowing of Rembell did take some efforts too ha ha).

What triggered the attention was R suddenly leaving the school. R was Prefect E's favourite, some sort of murid contoh to all of us. Me, on the other hand, is a nightmarish character for some of them. R and NA kept counsel to themselves and though they seemed to be very close between them, they were remote figures to us in 1 PK 1.

I was also very much still attached to my Teghanung clique, whose notoreity was only rivaled by Utagha clique. We were told from the very beginning by the prefects that "cliques" were not good - and it didn't help when Wonggek kept on shouting "astaga walgelebek nyeng was stepek wek" to the unamused batch; or picked a fight with Ameoba early in the year ha ha. To cut things short - we were the first candidates for "potential trouble makers".

I cannot recall much what had happened when KR allegedly ran amok. There were many nights we had to sleep in the surau, or when we had to recite Yassin non-stop (though there were occasions I blissfully slept in the sick bay unaware of what was alleged to have taken place).

KR was also spin-savvy.

There were a series of threats issued through letters, naming particular prefects, with Prefect A high on the hit list - as next "targets". You can imagine the atmosphere of spookiness engulfing the whole batch and how perhaps innocent stories evolved into urban legends that survive till this very day - of timid and weak boy, when possessed, became super strong that could jump a high window or break doors, or over powered 10 people etc. etc.

What I can be sure was that by the time it was all over, the real facts were too muddled with made up stories that it was very difficult to sift the truth from myth. I reiterated that I had never witnessed anything physical that can substantiate any of the claims.

Things went on like this until at one point, I guess the school decided to act on it considering the disturbance it created.

So one night, Wonggek, Ja and me (most probably Toje too, since Awie claimed he wasn't among us - the only other celebrated members of the clique were Zadin and Toje, but I was sure it wasn't Zadin, so must be Toje) were summoned for an audience with the high and mighty Prefect A. We were told we had an assignment and were given a term of reference - the details of which all escaped my memories now. Tracing back, I guess we were told to follow NA in one of his nightly errand to meet KR - since he (NA) had been waking up in the middle of the night wandering around for some time already.

I guess they needed some material witnesses who can related what actually happened, or corroborated some of the claims. Looking back, I know my value to my prefects then ha ha - "send in the scums who we can afford to lose ha ha".

My relationship was cordial with NA (even after we parted from koleq), so when one of us met him (I must remind you this is at 2 am) and told him we wanted to join him to play volleyball (he played volleyball then) - he did not object. I was quite surprised at how casually he took the whole thing - as playing volleyball in darkness at 2 am in the morning, in anticipation of an appearance of a wandering spirit; is not something you do every day.

So off we went, walking from Dorm C.

It was 2 am so the night was quiet.

But I have to say one of the spookiest moments of my life happened right when NA and us stepped outside Prep School boundary towards the tarmac in front of surau - for suddenly the dogs began barking (anjing betul la, bukan yang kat cube). All of a sudden dogs around the KK town began barking and I would be lying if turning back did not cross my mind. I can't remember what was the motivation, but somehow we went on walking towards the gymnasium amidst the loud barking.

NA was quiet all along.

We went on to play and did some digging, picked the ball etc. (the fact that it was played in front of gymnasium, the venue for so many horror movies e.g. the half human, half wolf character often associated with gymnasium compounded the spookiness).

I can't remember (banyak laa yang aku tak ingat) how long we played, but all of a sudden NA wanted to run. So we the dumb ass had to follow him and off we went again to padang Prep School.

I think we were in the process of "warming up" (don't laugh, I know I am fat now) when suddenly it seemed the cows that were sleeping around padang Prep School were running towards the small gate connecting to Azizam's house (before the present F4 block was built). It was then that I recalled that NA mentioned something about KR dah sampai - and it was then that we could not take it any longer and decided to excuse ourselves and went back to Prep School.

Till this day, I am not sure whether it was a figment of my imagination (that part with the cows) or it really happened. I think the only sound that was so loud at that time was my own heart-beat. I don't think the 4 of us (cheee waaah macam cerita Sleepers laa pulak) ever spoke at length to compare notes - so if Wonggek, or Ja could substantiate my version, it would be good. I can put to rest once and for all whether it really did take place, or was my own imagination.

But the part on the dogs barking was real - and I considered that as a material proof that there was something spooky, whether or not all the urban legends did take place. The fact that I never encountered NA's transformation or super human strength cannot make me forget the spookiness of the night (or ponder on whether the decision to send us as guinea pigs that night was really wise - regardless of what some people's perception of the bleakness of our future in koleq was).

Boleh Dipercayai

Ada satu ujian sekaut tu kena mengembara ke satu tempat ni. Tempat yg dituju tu adalah Sekolah Menora. Pelbagai cerita tentang Menora ni yg dikatakan tempat lepak pontianak. Jadi pada hari itu dari Sayong kitorang pun berjalanlah pakai poncho kadet dgn kayu ala-ala hobbit.

Pelbagai halangan ditempuhi, hujan lebat dll. yg asyik melambatkan kitorang. Maka timbullah perasaan semacam tentang Menora ini. Sampai di Menora kena tidur. Takde cikgu jaga. Sebelum cikgu blah, diorang sempat pesan kalu dengar apa2 buat tak tau je. Oleh kerana tempat ni dah horror sangat, kitorang dibenar tidur dlm kelas.

Nak jadi cerita, mat top nak kencing. Tandas ada kat hujung blok dekat dgn pagar tepi hutan. Sebagai rakan sekaut, aku pun temankan la mat top. Bila mat top dah masuk toilet, aku pun apa lagi, kunci la pintu dari luar sambil gelak setan. Sedang kecoh2 tu tiba2 je ada benda langgar bahagian atas pokok. Suasana sepi sekejap.

Maka, tanpa mengira kawan, aku pun angkatlah kaki melarikan diri meninggalkan mat top meraung2 dlm toilet. Pastu kitorang ramai2 gi rescue mat top.

Kami tidak bertegur sapa lagi semenjak kejadian itu. Sebagai membela diri, aku lari sebab aku ada kat luar. Mat top selamat la dia duk dlm toilet. Aku dah siap kunci dah.
